Where contact details come from

What you get

• An email address, where the person has published one to their connections.
• A phone number, considerably less often.
• Location, follower and connection counts, and how many connections you share.

Why it is a button rather than automatic

Each lookup counts as a profile view on LinkedIn, and viewing a large number of profiles is one of the fastest ways to attract attention. Running it across an entire network would put the account at risk for data you mostly would not use.

If the daily allowance is spent, the lookup is refused rather than pushed through.

An honest limit

This only works for people you are connected to, because that is who LinkedIn shows contact details to. It is not a contact database and it will not find details for a stranger.
