Help · Inbox and replies

Recording what came of a conversation

When a conversation reaches its end, you can record what it came to: a meeting, a customer, or nothing. Those three answers are the only thing that can tell you whether the outreach was worth doing, and which kinds of event are worth acting on at all.

Why only three answers

Because three is the number of answers anybody actually gives. Asking for a stage, a value and a close date turns a two second judgement into a form, and a form that does not get filled in produces a number that looks real and is not.

Why "nothing" is worth recording

A trigger that produces plenty of replies and no meetings is worse than one that produces neither, because it costs you time as well as attention. Without somewhere to record that, the dashboard can only ever report good news.

How it is counted

  • An outcome is credited to the last message that went out before you marked it, so one meeting counts once rather than once per message.
  • A meeting with no message to credit still counts in the total. You had the meeting either way.
  • Answering also clears the conversation from your list, because deciding what became of something is the last thing you do with it.
